Robert’s Story
Robert has worked in accounting and financial management since 1982. That’s more than 40 years across nearly every role a finance department has: accounting clerk, controller, Chief Financial Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B. A.) in Political Science and a Masters in Business (MBA) from the University of California - Berkeley. He founded Robert G. Neumann Accounting Services in 2007.
That career arc matters. Most bookkeepers have only ever been bookkeepers. Robert has worked in every level of a company’s finances. That means he understands what your books are actually for: making decisions, managing loans, complying with legalities, and finalizing year-end reports - plus having conversations with your tax professional.
His industry experience spans retail, wholesale, manufacturing, distribution, real estate, design, restaurants, and software.

Our Team
You’re not getting a freelance bookkeeper. With Robert G. Neumann Accounting Services, you’re working with a professional team built on a solid business infrastructure.
Every bookkeeper in the company holds a two- or four-year accounting degree from an accredited college or university. These staff members work on company-owned computers, use licensed accounting software, and connect through a virtual private network (VPN). All completed work goes through a review process. A general ledger accountant checks the transaction details by account and Robert reads the draft financials before they’re sent to the client.
Our work complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), which means your financial statements are prepared following the same method used by every tax professional, banker, and investor. And they’re delivered in the format in which these professionals expect to see them. No surprises. No explaining at tax time why the numbers look the way they do. You get clean books, fully reviewed and ready for inspection.

We’re based in Alameda, California and we serve clients in all 50 states. Robert is a member of Business Network International (BNI) and participates in local business groups in the San Francisco Bay Area.
